Winchester model 1873 One of One Hundred, .44-40 caliber, 28” octagon barrel, full magazine, deluxe checkered burl walnut stocks, set trigger, half nickel finish, serial #18950. Near fine original condition,considered one of the top two specimens known of this rare Winchester (eight authenticated). This exact rifle is pictured on page 54 of Winchester: 1 of 1,000 in a full color one-page spread and also The Story of the Winchester 1 of 1000 and 1 of 100 rifles by Dr. Ed Lewis, page 115, left and top. The rifle retains 85-95% original blue thinning slightly on the edges, with some minor scratches, just beginning normal age.The engraving is crisp, edges are sharp. The magazine tube shows 10-30% drifting blue. The magazine retaining band shows 50% thinning blue. The frame shows 80-90% original unpolished satin nickel finish with just some beginning erosion and normal aging with a pleasing patina.
