Winchester model 12 Special Order ‘Factory Trap’ marked, magnificently custom engraved by 20th century master R. J. Kornbrath and stocked by American master stockmaker R. J. Owens. [[[[[[ CONFIRM R. J. OWENS ]]]]]]].Serial #298598. The gun is in 12ga with 26” barrel, choked WS1 showing a Simmons type rib (probably originally a two-barrel set with one barrel missing). The gun is magnificently engraved and shows best-quality tightscrolls with portrait of bird dog at center of left side, right side shows same beautifull scroll engraving with portrait of game birds. The pistol grip cap is finely engraved. The triggerguard is engraved andgold-inlaid with fancy letters “JLW”. The stock is of figured walnut with extra fancy bordered checkering attributed by many experts to Owens, of which we have no doubts as his characteristics show throughout. Thebottom of the frame in front of loading port is engraved “R. J. Kornbrath”. The condition is fine to excellent showing a beautiful royal blue finish of which 90-95% remains.
