Measuring 27 x 19 inches, this is a sheet of tin that was used as a target by Ad Topperwein, Winchester exhibition shooter, on 10 June 1942 as part of a show in Quincy, Illinois. Firing from an unknown range, Topperwein put approximately 250 rounds into the plate, which formed a profile bust of Uncle Sam with a "V" adorning his traditional top hat. The upper left corner is signed "Ad Topperwein/ WINCHESTER/ (illeg)/ Jun 10-42". The entire target is set into a hardwood frame, 35 1/4" x 27 1/4", with a green cloth matte and a Winchester plaque at the bottom. Also included is a small promotional button for The Wonderful Topperweins, as Ad and his wife Elizabeth were known, from the Whitehead & Hoag Company of Newark, New Jersey.

Condition: Excellent, the lower section of the frame shows mild wear and chipping with some minor varnish loss. The metal target itself is excellent with a nice old age patina overall with a few areas of brown patina starting to form.
