Indian used antique lever action repeating rifle chambered in .44-40 Winchester, manufactured in New Haven, CT circa 1879-1882. Features a 24 5/16" octagonal barrel, dovetailed large blade front sight, elevation adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sporting sight, full-length magazine tube, smooth trigger, knurled hammer spur, sliding dust cover with serrations on the rear, grip safety, smooth walnut forend with metal cap and straight grip shoulder stock with crescent trapdoor buttplate. Shows features commonly seen on Indian used guns such as an obliterated serial number, repaired stock, brass tack embellishments on the butt and hide wrap on the forend/barrel with dangling beads & feather. Rifle displays an aged brown patina with some traces of finish in the protected areas on the receiver. Action is in good working order, the bore is very good and the wood stocks are fair.
