Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Bolt Action Carbine in 7 mm

Manufactured in 1947 (receiver) during the transition period (late 1945-1951). Chamber in the desirable 7 mm or commonly termed 7 x 57 mm caliber. This caliber was introduced to the Model 70 line in 1937 and discontinued in 1949, so standard production was very limited and is one of the most difficult calibers to locate today. Hooded ramp front sight and a filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot on a barrel marked with the Winchester legend on the left side. The receiver is tapped for scope mounting and has a cloverleaf tang and Lyman sight (stock not inletted). The Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver at the breech. "-SUPER GRADE-" is marked on the floor plate. Polished bolt numbered to gun and late safety. The nicely figured pistol grip stock features multi-point checkering, a cheekpiece, an ebony forend tip, Winchester hard rubber grip cap, sling swivels and a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The carbine retains nearly all of the blue finish showing the slightest handling marks. The stock is near mint showing the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
