Winchester Model 70 Super Grade Bolt Action Carbine in 250-3000 Savage

Manufactured in 1940 (receiver). Winchester introduced the 250-3000 Savage caliber in 1937 to its line of Model 70s before discontinuing the caliber in 1949. As a Model 70 expert and author, Dean Whitaker has noted that of the approximately 135,000 units manufactured during the first thirteen years of Model 70 production, 250-3000 Savage chambered variations make up an "extremely small percentage." Hooded ramp front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel marked with the Winchester legend on the left side and two line address on the right side. Receiver tapped for scope mounting at the front and tapped for sight mounting on the left rear side. Floor plate marked "-SUPER GRADE-". Pre-war safety, cloverleaf receiver tang, polished bolt numbered to gun and quick release sling swivels. Nicely figured pistol straight grip stock with ebony forend tip, Winchester hard rubber grip cap, cheekpiece and checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/refinished. The carbine retains nearly all of the blue finish with loss at the muzzle. The stock is near mint with some very scattered minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
