Winchester Model 70 Featherweight Bolt Action Rifle in 35 Remington

Manufactured in 1954 (receiver). The rifle is chambered in 35 Remington. According to Dean Whitaker in his study, THE WINCHESTER MODEL 70, 1937-1964, 35 Remington is not a cataloged chambering for Model 70 Featherweight rifles. The Model 70 was a very popular rifle with many custom variations having been manufactured. Whitaker notes that "the versatility of the rifle gave rise to many factory-sponsored or factory-sanctioned experimental chamberings and configurations." Factory records are, as Whitaker states, "rather scanty or, in some cases, non-existent." Even today there could still be undocumented variations of the Model 70. Hooded ramp front sight and adjustable folding leaf rear sight on a barrel marked with the Winchester legend on the left side. The Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on the left side of the barrel and receiver at the breech. The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting. Polished bolt numbered to gun, hollow bolt knob, sling swivels and straight receiver tang. The high comb pistol grip stock features checkering on the forearm and grip area and a checkered aluminum buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The rifle retains nearly all of the blue finish showing the slightest handling marks with some light pitting under the finish on the bolt knob. The stock is near mint showing the slightest handling marks with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
