Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifle in 250-3000 Savage

Manufactured in 1946 (receiver) during the transition period (late 1945-1951) and chambered in the rare 250-3000 Savage caliber. Winchester introduced the 250-3000 Savage caliber in 1937 to its line of Model 70s before discontinuing the caliber in 1949. As Model 70 expert and author Dean Whitaker has noted, that of the approximately 135,000 units manufactured during the first thirteen years of Model 70 production, 250-3000 Savage chambered variations make up an "extremely small percentage." The barrel features a hooded ramp front sight and a filler block in the rear sight dovetail slot with the left side marked with the Winchester legend. The pre-war receiver is tapped for scope mounting at the front and has a Lyman sight (stock not inletted). Winchester oval proof on the barrel and receiver. Cloverleaf receiver tang, pre-war safety, polished bolt numbered to gun and sling swivels. The straight comb pistol grip stock features checkering and a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally refurbished/restored. The rifle retains nearly all of the blue finish showing limited light handling marks. The stock is excellent with a few light handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
