Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Carbine in 300 Savage

Manufactured in 1949 (receiver) during the transition period (late 1945-1951). It is chambered in the very desirable and rare 300 Savage caliber, which was available as a special order caliber circa 1944 until sometime in the 1950s. It is among the rarest of the Model 70 calibers. Hooded ramp front sight and elevation adjustable rear sight on a barrel marked with the Winchester legend on the left side. The Winchester factory oval proof is stamped on the barrel and receiver. The receiver is tapped for scope/sight mounting. Polished bolt numbered to gun, late safety, straight receiver tang and sling swivels. The checkered straight comb pistol grip stock has a checkered steel buttplate.

Very fine as professionally restored. The rifle retains 98% of the blue finish showing a faint brown patina on the receiver. The stock is also very fine showing a few barely noticeable light handling marks with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
