Winchester Model 65 Lever Action Rifle in Scarce 32-20 Caliber

Winchester manufactured only about 5,700 Model 65 rifles from 1933 to 1947. This particular rifle was manufactured in 1937. The left rear of the barrel is marked "-WINCHESTER/PROOF STEEL-MODEL 65-WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK- 32 W.C.F.-". The top of the barrel and receiver at the breech are marked with the Winchester oval proof, the upper tang is marked "WINCHESTER/-TRADE MARK-/-MADE IN U.S.A.-" and the serial number is on the bottom of the frame. Hooded ramp blade front and adjustable rear buck horn sights, half magazine tube, all blue finish and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and pistol grip stock with a checkered steel shotgun buttplate.

Fine. The barrel retains 40% thin original blue finish with a gray patina on the balance and showing a small amount of minor pitting that has been cleaned and some minor oxidation. The receiver retains 50% original blue finish with a smooth gray patina on the balance. The hammer has a dark patina and the lever is a mix of smooth gray and dark patina. The forend cap has been cleaned. The wood has been freshened with a coat of varnish some time ago and remains very good with some minor dents and scratches. The markings are clear. The action is fine.
