Winchester Model 64 Lever Action Rifle in Scarce 219 Zipper Caliber
This rifle is chambered in the rare and desirable 219 Zipper cartridge. Winchester only produced this caliber in the Model 64 rifle from 1938 to 1941. This particular rifle was manufactured in 1938. The left rear of the barrel is marked with the standard proof steel, model, Winchester trade mark and caliber markings. The top of the barrel and receiver are marked with the Winchester oval proof at the breech. The upper tang is marked with the three line maker, trademark, made in U.S.A. marking, two line address on the right rear of the barrel and the serial number is on the bottom of the receiver. Ramp front sight (hood absent), rear sight removed with filler installed and a bolt mounted peep sight has been installed. 1/2 magazine and mounted with a smooth forearm with steel end cap and pistol grip stock with a checkered steel buttplate.

Condition: Fine. The barrel, breech bolt and magazine retain 95% original finish with some thinning and wear on the muzzle end of the barrel and a dark smooth patina on the magazine cap. The receiver has a mottled gray patina with traces of original dark blue finish in protected areas. The hammer and lever have a smooth dark patina with scattered strong original blue on the lever. The wood has been freshened with a coat of varnish and remains very good with some minor scratches (large scratch on the right side of the stock), dents and dings. The markings are clear and crisp. The action is excellent.
