Winchester Model 62A Gallery Slide Action Rifle
When the Model 1890 and 1906 were dropped from production in 1932, Winchester introduced the Model 62 to take their place. Winchester offered this Gallery version chambered for the .22 short only. Gallery guns have a triangular loading port which the standard models did not have. A change in the breech bolt mechanism brought about the change in the name designation from Model 62 to 62A. This rifle was manufactured in 1963 and features a blade front sight with bead and an adjustable rear sight, standard barrel markings with the serial number marked on the lower tang and receiver. The receiver is unmarked. The Winchester oval proof appears on the top of the barrel and receiver at the breech. Mounted with a 17 groove forearm and smooth straight grip stock with checkered hard rubber buttplate marked "Winchester / Repeating / Arms Co."

Very fine. The barrel retains 90% original blue finish thinning to a smooth gray patina with some extensive slide wear. The magazine tube retains 80% blue. The receiver retains 85% blue finish thinning to a smooth brown patina with some minor edge wear and a smooth gray patina on both tangs. The forearm is revarnished with some minor scratches. The revarnished stock has a series of gashes/cut on the right side of the comb and a couple deep pressure dents on top of the comb and buttplate. Otherwise the stock is fine with some minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
