The left side of the receiver is marked with the standard two line address/patent dates and the top of the receiver ring is marked with the Winchester oval proof and ".30 / GOV. / '06.". The upper tang is marked with the three line model, make, trademark marking and the serial number is marked on the lower tang. Mounted with a smooth military style forearm with grasping groove and handguard secured by a barrel band and straight grip stock with a black checkered Winchester buttplate.

Refinished/period modified, possibly by arsenal. The carbine retains most of the dull blue finish with the barrel showing some wear on the muzzle and a couple of small areas of minor spotting. There is some high edge wear and light scratches on the receiver and minor wear on the magazine and lever from normal cycling of the action. The rear sight shows some thinning to plum blue. The sling stud is absent and it appears that one was never installed. The wood is refinished with some scattered minor dings and dents. Crisp clear markings. The action is excellent.
