Winchester Model 1894 lever action rifle in .38-55 caliber remaining in fine to near excellent original condition showing 26” round barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, serial number 928022. The barrel and magazine tube show 95% plus bright original blue just thinning at the edges and muzzle area. The rifle is mounted with a three leaf rear sight in correct dovetail and there is an extra high front sight in the front dovetailprobably by Sheard or other period sight maker. The frame shows 90% to 95% original blue with some drifting at the edges, slight scratches and a couple of minor marks. The wood is very good plus to near fine with some dings, mars and at least 80% original varnish. The wood fits up to the metal nicely. The hammer, lever and butt plate show considerable original case hardening within their patina. There are two extra tap holesin the frame by the rear of the action that have been filled with screws and were probably for a receiver sight. The action is good and the bore is excellent.
