Winchester Model 1892 trappers model .44-40 caliber with factory 14” barrel and factory engraved, serial number 773086. This Winchester was formally in the Michael Wayne collection son of John Wayne and producer of epic Bat Jac Westerns such as “The Alamo”, “El Dorado”, “The Sons of Katie Elder”, “Rio Bravo”, “Big Jake”, and many others up to and including “The Shootist”. This unique trappers model retains 80% to 90% original blue on the barrel with some slight losses at the edges where the forend meets the barrel and at the muzzle. The frame shows 30% to 50% original blue with some scattered light to moderate surface erosion and light cleaning. The stocks have been lightly refinished but look good. The markings are sharp and the bore is excellent. A carefully written two-page letter of documentation completely authenticates the rifle and describes the engraving as the work of Williams Stokes factory engraver in style 6. Also included is a copy of ATF certification as curio and relic. Est.: $8,000-$16,000.
