Winchester Model 1892 special order carbine in .25-20 caliber, factory engraved by Ulrich with ram on left side and stag on right, half magazine, checkered deluxe pistol grip stock with rifle butt plate, standard carbine sights, Lyman adjustable windage and elevation tang sight, no saddle ring, serial number 933930. This Winchester is 100% factory original but is in a range that does not letter and there is an accompanying document from noted arms dealer and expert Floyd “Bob” Everhart of Ohio stating it is 100% original and rare and also old-time dealer Eric Vaule authenticated it for our consignor when purchased from Everhart in 2005. Pictured in September 2005 Everhart advertisement item number 2 priced at $25,500. The barrel retains 95% to 98% plus bright original blue just beginning light aging and very slight losses at the muzzle. The frame retains about 50% to 70% original blue which is flaked at the edges and toning to an even patina where the bright blue has drifted. The stocks are near fine with 95% plus original varnish and a couple of minor storage marks only. The butt plate shows traces of original blue and the band and magazine tube show almost all of their original blue with just some slight edge wear. Model 1892 deluxe’s are rare factory engraved and deluxe engraved carbines are ultra-rare with probably less than 10 known. Est.: $20,000-$40,000.
