This is an example of a Winchester Model 1892 carbine that was manufactured in 1927 and subsequently refinished, possibly in the late 20th Century. This late production carbine has a full blue finish with oil finished walnut stock and forearm. The round barrel has a steel front sight blade mounted on a block behind the upper barrel band and a folding leaf rear sight graduated to 200 yards. A staple-mounted saddle ring is located on the left side of the receiver. The stock has a carbine style buttplate. The left side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend "-MODEL 92- WINCHESTER- 44 W.C.F.-/-TRADE MARK-" between the rear sight and the receiver. Oval Winchester "W/P" proofmarks are stamped on the top of the barrel and the receiver. The serial number, "992356" is stamped across the bottom of the receiver just behind the junction with the forearm. The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped "WINCHESTER/TRADE MARK/MADE IN U.S.A.".
