Offered for sale is a Winchester Model 1892 .32-20 WCF Octagon Rifle. The rifle features a 24" octagon barrel, buckhorn sights, full length magazine, walnut stock, and blue'd finish. The 1892 Winchester was Jonathan Browning’s answer to an updated repeating lever action rifle built to handle shorter cartridges. It was Winchesters replacement to the older Model 1873. Basically a scaled down version of the powerfully built big Model 1886, the 1892 was so successful that many are still in use today. One of the more scarce chamberings in the Browning designed 1892, the .32-20 which was introduced in the 1880s by Winchester and later adapted to Colt revolvers, remains still popular today. This outstanding example retains excellent deep factory blue on the barrel, magazine and loading gate, and has the correct buckhorn rear sight with Winchester blade front sight. Sharp correct Winchester markings on the barrel and upper tang, exc. walnut stock and forend with very tight wood to metal fit. Attractive aged blue receiver that is naturally showing a 107 year old uncleaned patina. This rifle shows good condition. The mechanics are tight and smooth. The bore shows some pitting, with good rifling. The rifle was manufactured in 1911. Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. The serial number is 592681.
