This lot features a Winchester Model 1892 .25-20 Caliber Octagon Lever Action Rifle. The rifle features a 24" octagon barrel, walnut stock, adjustable rear sight, full length magazine, and blue'd finish. This is an excellent example of another of Jonathan Browning’s prize designs that was purchased by the Winchester Company in the 1890s. Considered one of the smoothest and strongest of Winchester’s lever actions, the Model 1892 stayed in production until the United States entered into World War II. This rifle with desirable 24” octagon barrel is in remarkable condition with fine deep receiver and barrel blue. The walnut stock and forearm are solid and tight fitting. Retains original Winchester front sight with buckhorn rear sight. Excellent sharp and clear Winchester markings on the barrel and upper tang, tight action and fine screw heads indicating that this rifle was not one that was taken apart or been in need of repairs. Manufactured the same year the Wright Brothers made their first flight that changed the world forever. This rifle was manufactured 115 years ago in 1903. Curio & Relic firearm. FFL transfer or NICS background check required. The serial number is 221393.
