Winchester Model 1886 special order extra-long rifle in rare .50/100/450 caliber with 36” round barrel, full magazine, plain trigger, shotgun butt with hard rubber butt plate, received in the warehouse January 10, 1905 and shipped from the warehouse January 11, 1905, serial number 131915. The 50/100 caliber is rare in the 86 series and a 36” extra-long barrel compounds the extreme rarity of this rifle and it may a unique combination. The barrel and magazine tube show 10% to 20% original blue drifting to brown with some mottling, old cleaning, minor dings, mars and scratches. The barrel address is good and mostly legible as is the caliber marking. The stocks have been lightly re-finished but show no evidence of sanding and fit up to the metal well. The hard rubber butt plate is in good condition with just a couple of minor marks at the edges. The frame is a natural gray patina with some minor marks and scratches. The action is good and the bore is fair to good but shows some wear from being shot a great deal. It would be difficult to imagine a rarer combination of caliber and barrel length. The factory letter confirms caliber and barrel length but no further information other than shipment dates. Keith and Lori Candee collection. Est.: $12,500-$25,000.
