Winchester Model 1886 special order extra-long rifle in .45-70 caliber, 32” octagon barrel, plain trigger, full length magazine, serial number 11426, received in the warehouse December 10, 1887 and shipped from the warehouse December 12, 1887 to order number 2593 with barrel length and caliber confirmed by factory letter. This rifle shows a lightly cleaned brown patina with some scattered light erosion and pinprick pitting and some traces of blue and colors where protected. The hammer and lever show faint traces of case hardening and there is some good blue in the magazine tube area where it meets the barrel. The stock has a light coating of re-varnish which appears old and shows some small losses. The wood still fits the metal well and is at least very good. The barrel address is clear and the original sights are retained. The bolt and loading gate show considerable original blue. The original sights are in their proper positions and the bore is good with normal wear and aging but is still fairly bright. This rifle shows correct extra-long configuration with two bands to the magazine. Keith and Lori Candee collection. Estimate $3,500-$7,000.
