Winchester Model 1886 lever action rifle in .40-65 caliber with 26” octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt. Serial number 94284. The barrel and magazine tube retained 50% to 70% original blue thinning on the edges withsome slight beginning erosion and pinprick pitting just starting. The edges are crisp and the barrel address is very sharp. The original front and rear sights are retained. The frame shows 10% to 20% case hardeningmixed in with a silver gray patina. There is some very good case hardening beneath the lever and on the edges where protected. The loading gate shows 30% to 50% thinning original blue. The bolt shows 80% to 90%original bright blue. The stocks are very good plus with some slight dings, mars and scratches mostly on the bottom side of the forend. The wood to metal fit is near excellent. The forend cap shows traces oforiginal case as does the butt plate. The action is good and the bore is very good with a bright appearance. Est.: $1,250-$2,500.
