'Extra Lightweight Rifle' manufactured circa 1916. Features 24" round barrel (marked 'nickel steel'), half length magazine tube, blade front sight (marked D.W. KING), barrel mounted rear sight with single folding leaf (marked "MARBLES"), receiver mounted adjustable peep sight (marked "PACIFIC"), straight grip, shotgun butt with checkered steel buttplate. Bore is very good to excellent condition, bright with crisp rifling. Barrel and magazine tube retain 80% dark blue, with small scuffs & scratches. Action retains 40% blue, thinning and going gray, with bare metal on bottom of receiver and lower portion of sides, all edges and high areas, and at lever. Screw slots are generally good. Wood is good to very good condition, good fit to metal, scratched and dented, with cracking and crazing of varnish type finish. Forward edge of comb has been roughly carved down, appears to allow a previously installed tang sight to fold down (rub marks on tang indicate previous sight mounting). Action is smooth.
