'Extra Lightweight Rifle' manufactured circa 1903. Features 24" round barrel (marked 'nickel steel'), full length magazine tube, buckhorn sights (rear sight marked "MARBLES"), straight wrist, shotgun butt with checkered steel buttplate. Bore is good to very good condition, slightly frosted, overall bright with sharp rifling. Barrel retains 65% blue with patches of thinning and color change to gray. Magazine tube is mostly plum colored blue, with darker color on right side. Action is brownish gray color, thinning or with bare metal on high spots and sharp edges, scratches to sides. Screw slots show slight marring. Forend is good condition, with moderate denting near receiver, oil staining at ends, good fit to metal. Stock is good condition, with dents & scratches, small areas of dark discoloration and possible plug repair at toe, fair fit to metal with slight shrinkage. Buttplate is good with light rust. Markings are mostly sharp, with some shallowness across middle of two line barrel address. Condition is NRA Good+ *** C&R Firearm ***
