Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall single shot rifle, 24” round barrel; originally .22 Short cal., left side of barrel stamped “re-bored and rifled by J. Stevens, AT Co. Chicopee Falls, Mass.”; now a .25 Stevens RF; the barrel and receiver show trace original blue and case hardening within a patina finish with some light to moderate erosion and pin prick pitting; the sights are old period replacement in correct dovetails, the stock has been lightly refinished; the butt plate is pittedand screws replaced and not a good fit; the action is good, the bore is excellent. Stevens associated with Pope at the turn of the century and became one of the US’s top target rifle makers. Est.: $400-$800.
