Winchester Model 1885 High Wall single shot rifle, 38-55 cal., 30” octagon barrel, blue and case hardened finish, checkered deluxe wood stocks with factory Swiss butt plate, #3955. This rifle is in overall fine condition showing approx. 98% slightly drifted original blue with approx. 80%-90% original case colors with traces of original lacquer on the left side of the receiver; the bore is fine, the markings sharp the action crisp and there is a rear vernier adjustable tang sight and a hooded adjustable front sight. The wood is in overall fine condition showing beautiful graining and a professionally accomplished light refinish with no sanding as the wood on both fore end and butt stock and butt plate match up with the wood edges; the checkering has also been ever so slightly freshened; there is a brass insert in the bottom of the fore stock to accept a palm rest. The majority of the original frosted nickel finish on the Swiss butt plate is retained and the gun is a beautiful example of a deluxe High Wall in a desirable caliber. Est.: $2,000-$4,000.
