Winchester Model 1876 Third Model Lever Action Carbine
Sometimes referred to as the Centennial Model, the Model 1876 was developed in response to the public's demand for a repeating rifle capable of handling larger and more potent calibers. This a third model carbine, manufactured in 1897. The rifle is an extremely late production model and represents one of the last 50 Model 1876 ever manufactured. Fixed pinched front sight with folding carbine rear sight on blued barrel with standard Winchester two line address. Casehardened hammer and lever with the saddle ring mounted on the left side. Smooth oiled straight grip walnut stock with crescent steel buttplate. Complete with four piece cleaning rod in the butt trap.

Very good plus. Traces of thinning original blue finish remains on the barrel thinning along high points and exhibiting some over all handling marks concentrated between the muzzle and the barrel band. The receiver retains approximately 30% thinning original blue. The balance is now a mottled gray/brown patina with spotting and scattered handling marks. The lever and hammer both show muted but still distinguishable original case colors. The wood is fair with pressure marks scattered and some chips around the butt which has possibly been cleaned and revarnished some time ago. The action is fine.
