Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine with Cody Letter
Manufactured in 1883. Third Model with the dust cover guide integral to the top of the receiver. Fixed blade front sight, folding rear carbine sight and saddle ring and stud mounted on left receiver side. Standard two line barrel address/ King's Improvement patent date markings ahead of the rear sight, Model designation on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower tang. No caliber markings are visible and the barrel gauges at 45, (most likely 45-60). Mounted with a smooth full forearm and straight grip stock with an iron end cap and carbine buttplate. The accompanying Cody letter verifies the serial number, carbine configuration, that it was received in the warehouse on April 11, 1883 and shipped out on June 23, 1883.

Condition: Good. Traces of blue with brown patina. The remaining metal surfaces have been cleaned bright. There is some minor pitting on the receiver. The crude replacement wood has been sanded and refinished and remains good with a few minor dings. The visible markings are clear. The action is fine.
