Winchester Model 1876 Lever Action Rifle with 7-Leaf Express Sight, #17335, .45-75 cal., 28'' octagon barrel, set trigger, blue finish, early non-foliate upper tang markings, 2nd model plain dustcover on removable rail, standard smooth walnut stock, with standard sporting front sight. Shipped from the warehouse Oct. 28, 1881, with five other rifles configured similarly. All features verified by factory letter which goes on to state that these six rifles were the first Model 1876 guns shipped with the 7-leaf Express sight. Condition is very good to fine retaining approx. 75-85% thinning and moderately toning blue. Stocks show moderate knackering and darkening at metal contact points. Set trigger functions correctly. Action is crisp, bore is very good with light frosting in grooves. An extremely scarce '76 variant, with two factory letters verifying both the sights and the fact that these were the first rifles shipped in this configuration. (Walt Hallstein collect!
