Manufactured in 1882. Although the serial number falls into the Second Model serial number range (3000-30000), this rifle is a Third Model with the distinctive integral dust cover rail. The rifle has an extra long 28" round barrel. German silver blade front and buckhorn rear sights. The top of the barrel is marked with the two line address/patent markings ahead of the rear sight and "CAL. 45-60" at the breech. "45-60" is marked on the brass cartridge elevator. All blue finish with casehardened hammer and lever. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with iron end cap and crescent buttplate with compartment (cleaning rod not included).

Serial Number: 27170
Condition: Fair. The rifle has a mottled brown patina with traces of original blue finish in the protected areas. The lever retains silvered out case colors. There is some minor spotting and pitting (mostly on the receiver). There is a large ding on the receiver at the breech. Overall the wood has numerous minor dings and scratches. The forearm is fair with a repaired compression crack on each side and some minor gouges. The buttstock is good with a small hairline crack on the wrist (left side) and a deep gash (right side). Action needs work as it doesn't not cycle smoothly.
