Winchester Model 1876 Deluxe Pistol-Grip Lever Action Rifle with 7-Leaf Express Sight, #63824, .45-75 cal., 28'' octagon barrel, set trigger, blue and case-hardened finish, foliate upper tang markings, 2nd Model plain dustcover on fixed rail, factory checkered pistol-grip walnut stock, hard rubber Winchester grip cap, with gold Beach combination front sight. Lower tang beneath stock is marked with assembly number, as well as XXX, indicating grade of wood used. Right cheekpiece area of stock is uniquely embellished with large ''CWH'' in circular draped scroll motif above date ''20th Nov'r 1902/Kenhardt'', speculated by some collectors to be in remembrance of a particular hunt. It is also interesting to note that in Kenhardt, South Africa, at almost exactly this time, the Second Boer War was raging with police often dealing with bandit skirmishes in local mountains. Caliber markings are marked along left side flat, as Express sight blocks normal position, with small vertical platina bands to each of the six Express sights. Condition is fine retaining approx. 75-85% thinning and moderately toning blue to barrel and mag tube. Case-hardened receiver, hammer and lever have toned to a mellow silvery gray. Stocks show moderate knackering and darkening at metal contact points, with checkers showing light to just moderate flattening. Set trigger functions. Beach combination front sight retains approx. 30% original gold plate. Action is crisp, bore is very good with light frosting in grooves. Early leather sling shows steel roller type buckle.
