saddle ring carbine with interesting factory letter listing it as 26" heavy octagon barrel, set trigger, case hardened and checkered stock, returned to factory 1881 by Skinke and changed to a carbine 1882 then reshipped 1883. Features standard 22" round barrel, post front and carbine rear sights. Top of barrel with Winchesters King's Improvement 2 line address, CAL 45-60 at receiver end, bottom of barrel under forend with "P" proof mark and No. 1-2-3, all show 60-70% thinning blue drifting plum. Receiver blue drifting plum, bright on loading gate, dust cover brown, original saddle ring intact, MODEL 1876 light on tang. Crescent butt plate gray brown overall patina with light pin prick pitting. Forend shows 3 repaired grain cracks, scattered dings and dents, rear stock with large Frenched repair to upper also with scattered dings and dents. Sling swivel on bottom. Wood shows heavy use, remainder of gun very good. Excellent action with very good bore. Mfg'd 1878 Antique. Est. 5000-6000
