Winchester Model 1873 special order semi-deluxe rifle in .38-40 caliber with 26” octagon barrel, full magazine, blue and case hardened finish, select or 1x varnished wood stock, rifle butt plate, plain trigger, serial number 439224B. The barrel shows approximately 75% to 85% original blue evenly thinning and toning at the edges with good sharp markings. The magazine tube shows 25% to 35% original blue drifting to a brownish patina. The frame shows 50% to 70% original case hardening going slightly gray and silver with some very colorful rainbow hues still evident. The stocks are also very good plus with at least 75% original varnish showing some even wear at high points and edges. The stocks show minor scratches and aging with an excellent wood to metal fit. The forend cap, hammer and lever show considerable original case hardening. The action is tight, the bore is very good plus and is still shining. The original dust cover and small parts are all retained and the correct sights are in their proper dovetails. The front sight is a folding beech type and is correct to the period of the rifle.
