Winchester Model 1873 musket in .44-40 caliber showing stud mounting for a saber type bayonet and fully and finely period gold inlaid in ornate scroll motifs with carved select burl walnut wood stocks. The engraving and gold inlay are Europeanin design and style attributed to the 19th century. The stocking and carving on stock also probably European accomplished. The serial number is not visible as the rifle was refinished probably at the time of the engraving and thebarrel address is also not visible. The action is good and the bore is fair to good and may clean. An attractive and ornate rifle with a great deal of gold inlay that may have been made for a special palace guard. Approximately 80% to 90%finish remains with refreshed wood. Est.: $8,000-$16,000
