Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle, second model with screwed down dust cover rail in .44-40 caliber, serial number 85328. The rifle shows a 24” octagon barrel with full magazine and rifle butt. Approximately80% to 85% original blue remain on barrel and tube with some slight thinning on the edges and just beginning natural age. The edges and markings are very crisp and both the original front and rear sights are retained.The frame shows 80% to 90% original blue with some drifting and toning at the edges. Some just beginning erosion and very minor pinprick pitting. The dust cover and rail show 80% plus original blue finish. Theloading gate shows 80% to 90% original blue that is thinning slightly. The hammer and lever show at least 60% to 70% case hardened colors that are going slightly smoky. The wood stocks are very good plus to near finewith excellent wood to metal fit. Just a small amount of handling and minor scratches. The butt plate shows traces of case hardening drifting to silvery gray and the action is tight and crisp. The bore is at
