Winchester Model 1873 lever action rifle in .38-40 caliber with 24” octagon barrel, full magazine, rifle butt in as found frontier relic condition, serial number 246761B. The metal surfaces show a mottled gray brown patina with some traces of blue mixed in. There are many scratches and areas of staining with light to moderate scattered surface erosion and pitting. There is slightly heavy pitting on the right side of the magazine tube towards the muzzle. The markings are good and clear. The stocks have been weathered, worn and show repair with refinishing. The stocks are now undersized and the butt stock has been heavily repaired. The original dust cover and sights are retained. The action is good and the bore is so dirty we can’t see through it. Looks like a frontier Winchester found out west. Included is a turn of the century military style saddle scabbard that it was carried in when collected. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $1,000-$2,000.
