Winchester Model 1873 engraved lever action rifle, .38 WCF cal., 24” half round/half octagon barrel, blue and gold finish, set trigger, deluxe checkered wood stocks, #129339. This gun is in overall fine condition as refinished, possibly by the factory. The barrel shows approx. 98% of its restored blue finish, the frame shows approx. 95% of its gold refinish, the engraving is beautifully period accomplished and sharp with a panel scene of an elk on the left side of the receiver; the lever and hammer are case hardened and the butt plate is also gold plating and engraved as is the forend cap. The dust cover is blued and also engraved; a four piece cleaning rod is contained in the butt trap and there is a blued unmarked rear tang sight with adjustable round eye piece; the wood is beautifully checkered and grained and in overall very good to fine condition showing only scattered light scratches and mars due to storage. A factory letter accompanies this deluxe rifle and confirms rifle, 38 caliber, half octagon barrel, set trigger, special stock, case hardened, engraved $2.50, received in the warehouse on July 17, 1883 and shipped from the warehouse on July 18, 1883. Note: set trigger screw broken off or sheared. Est.: $17,500 - $35,000. .
