This is a wonderful Winchester Repeating Arms Model 1873 lever action with the rare Saddle Ring Carbine configuration in a .44 caliber. The carbine comes with a framed factory letter from the Cody Firearms Museum Buffalo Bill Historical Center stating that this is a Carbine with special order metal crescent rifle butt stock and was received in the warehouse on Dec. 26, 1884 and shipped from the warehouse on Dec. 27, 1884 on order number 18097. One of the most successful and certainly one of the most famous Winchester rifles was the Winchester Model 1873. The Model 1873 is the true “Gun That Won the West.” This 1873 shows the rare original Saddle Ring Carbine configuration and is in a .44/40 caliber. Top Barrel marked, “WINCHESTER’S-REPEATING-ARMS NEW HAVEN C.T. / KING’S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29.1866. OCTOBER 16.1860.”, and “44 Cal.” Lower Tang marked “170887” and the Upper Tang is marked “MODEL 1873”. The carbine shows the all original blue finish with much original color remaining, with original wood stock, and 20-inch round barrel having fixed original sights. The firearm appears to be in all original matching condition and is truly a rare find. Comes with letter from factory as shown. Antique Firearms Pre-1898 No FFL Transfer required.
