Manufactured in 1888, this Third Model 1873 has the dust cover rail integrally machined as part of the receiver. Marble #2 ivory bead front and adjustable sporting rear sights on the barrel with the two line address/patent dates marking and "38 WCF". "38 CAL" is marked on the brass cartridge elevator. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the serial number, rifle configuration, caliber, round barrel, and plain trigger. The letter states that the rifle was received in the warehouse on January 25, 1888 and shipped on February 1, 1888 with 7 other arms with no address listed.

Condition: Fair. The rifle retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with the balance a mottled brown patina. There is some minor pitting and spotting (mostly on the barrel and magazine). The wood is fine with some minor dings and scratches and some very scattered chipping along the grain.
