Manufactured in 1876, this First Model has the distinctive integral dust cover rail, blade front and adjustable buckhorn rear sights. The top of the barrel has the standard two line address marked "WINCHESTER'S-REPEATING-ARMS.NEW HAVEN.CT. / KING'S-IMPROVEMENT- PATENTED-MARCH 29. 1866. OCTOBER 16. 1860." The model designated on the upper tang and serial number on the lower. Smooth forearm with a steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate and buttstock compartment.

Condition: Very good. The rifle retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas with stronger traces on the barrel underside and top of the magazine tube. Overall the balance is a smooth dark brown patina. There is some very scattered minor pitting and spotting. The revarnished wood is very good with a few minor handling marks and a small missing chip near the upper tang. Mechanically fine.
