Third Model 1873 rifle, manufactured in 1885. German silver blade front and semi-buckhorn rear sights. Top of the barrel has the two-line legend with King's Improvement patent markings. The caliber is marked on the top of barrel, with a oval "W/P" proofmark stamped over the "CAL" marking. There is also a proofmark on the top of the receiver, which means the rifle was sent back to factory at some point after the turn of the century. "22 CAL./SHORT." is engraved on the bottom of the cartridge elevator. The upper tang is marked "MODEL 1873". Two piece straight grip stock, with crescent metal buttplate.

Condition: Very fine, with 70% original blue finish overall. The balance is fading to a smooth brown patina. The buttstock and forearm are both very fine with most of the original varnish. Mechanically excellent.
