Winchester Model 1873 1st model lever action rifle with raised thumbprint dust cover, .44-40 caliber, 24” round barrel, full magazine, rifle butt, set trigger, serial number 2013. This rifle shows a light gray to brown patina finish with some faint traces of blue mixed in. The barrel address is good and legible and so is the Model 1873 on top of tang. There is some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting andthere are a few marks on the barrel near the breech and some other scratches near the forend cap on the right side. The stocks are good and well-oiled with some small chips, small losses and a couple of gouges. Theaction works well and the bore is fair to good with normal use. The sights are in their correct positions there is some slightly heavier pitting in small areas by the side plate on the left and on top of the frame.The dust cover matches the patina well and shows some wear to the raised checkered oval. These raised thumbprint dust cover 1873’s are a significant and key variation. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
