Winchester Model 1866 saddle ring carbine with original half nickel finish and remaining in very good plus original condition, serial number 48017. The barrel and magazine show 30% to 50% original bluedrifting to brown with some scattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. The barrel address is good and legible and the rear sight has been altered slightly during period of its use. The frame shows 75%original nickel with some dulling and peeling. The drifting areas where metal is exposed on the lever show some minor pitting and erosion. The front barrel band shows 50% to 70% original nickel. The rear barrel bandwas blue with slight traces remaining. The stocks show 30% to 50% varnish with some scratches, dings, mars and small losses but are least good to very good. The wood fits up to the metal well. The butt plate shows 30%to 50% original nickel. The loading gate shows traces of original bright blue and the action works well but the hammer is not staying on full cock and the bore is at least very good and still fairly bright. Two
