Winchester Model 1866 lever action rifle in .44 rimfire caliber custom engraved in modern times using 19th-century style scroll and pattern. Serial number 125024.The engraving on this Winchester is a very close simulation probably by RL Barnard who worked for Ron Kudrick in the Carson City area where this rifle was purchased of more than 20 years ago. The barrel and magazine tube show strong traces of original blue mixed with a brownand retaining a sharp barrel address in good edges. The loading gate shows a faint trace of original blue. The stocks have been lightly cleaned and are at least very good. The rifle retains original to the periodsling swivels and correct sights. The action is good and the bore is fair to good. And attractive looking 1866 rifle which is much closer to original style engraving than many we see offered for sale on the collectorsmarket everyday. Estimate $4,000-$8,000.
