Winchester Model 1866 Lever Action Saddle Ring Carbine
Manufactured in 1869, this is a Second Model 1866 saddle ring carbine with the single screw on the upper tang. The steel front sight is an integral part of the upper barrel band and there is a fixed notch rear sight on a barrel. The barrel has the two line address/patent dates marking (faint) ahead of the rear sight: "WINCHESTER'S - REPEATING - ARMS NEW HAVEN. CT. / KING'S- IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29 1866, OCT.16. 1860.". The brass frame has a saddle ring mounted on the left side. The serial number along with the inspection initial "L" appears on the lower tang. Smooth forearm and straight grip stock fitted with a replacement brass buttplate with compartment.

Condition: Good. The barrel and magazine have a mottled gray and brown patina with some scattered minor pitting. The brass frame is fine with the buttplate having numerous minor dings. The replacement wood has some minor handling marks and a couple minor gashes with the forearm cracked.
