Manufactured in 1877, this Fourth Model is marked with the two line Winchester Repeating Arms address and King's Improvement patent information on top of the barrel ahead of the rear sight and the serial number is stamped on the tang behind the lever. Full length tube magazine, German silver blade front sight and adjustable sporting type rear sight. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a steel forend cap and a brass crescent buttplate with compartment. Note that this rifle (154760) falls into the Fourth Model serial number range (149000-170100) and has a brass buttplate. Fourth Model 1886s are usually found with iron buttplates. The rifle is complete with a four piece cleaning rod. A copy of the accompanying factory letter verifies that Model 1866 serial number 154760 as a rifle with round barrel, received in the warehouse on December 31, 1877 and shipped on order number 11777, May 8, 1878.

Condition: Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 40% original blue finish with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina with some machine marks near the breech. The lever and hammer retain flashes of original case colors. The brass frame has a pleasant patina with tight side plates. The brass buttplate also has a pleasant patina with numerous minor scratches. The rear sight is bent forward slightly, but is intact. The wood is also fine with some minor dings and scratches, along with some minor surface chipping on the forearm. Mechanically excellent.
