Winchester Model 12 pump action takedown shotgun, black diamond trap series, with associated later barrel engraved “Harold Smith” on left side of breech; Harold Smith was the owner of Harold’s Club of Reno,Nevada, who was a legendary arms collector. This collection was displayed for nearly 50 years in downtown Reno until sold by Butterfield & Butterfield and this still has the collection’s brass inventory tag (#200);the frame is numbered 570318, the barrel is numbered 249385. The gun has a 30” ventilated factory style spoonback rib and etching on magazine tube and collar; the gun shows approx. 75% original thinning blue, thestocks are fair with some even edge wear, good burl wood grain and replacement of the black diamonds at the wrist; the hard rubber butt pad is deteriorated; action is good, bore good, stock measures approx. 13-7/8”from the trigger to the end of the wood, approx. 14-5/8” to the end of the pad. An interesting piece of memorabilia from one of Reno’s best-known casino owners and personalities. Est.: $750-$1,500.
