Winchester Mdl 70 Pre-64 Cal .375H&H MagSN:508816, 25" heavy Winchester marked BBL. The gun is finely custom stocked by a Hollywood gun shop owned by Lyle Corcoran in 1960s for an African hunter by tradition. It shows a long pistol grip and fineworkmanship. The rifle is showing a 3 leaf rear sight and a re-blued finish. There is some surface rust from poor storage. The stock is at least very good. There are scope mounts in factory tap holes on the action.This cataloger speculates the stock was made by Leonard Mewes from the style of the pistol grip and checkering, which is fine and an unusual pattern on the forend. Corcoran was a 50 year + dealer who appreciated finecraftsmanship and he used Shell Hammer, Mewes, Chiang, Shaw and the very best So Cal gunsmiths for his elite clientele that included Clark Gable, Robert Petersen, Bob Stack, William Holden and the top sportsmenand shooters from the 1920-1960s. Little John's sold Corcoran's collection in the early 80s and 2 similar rifles by Mewes were featured in that sale.

All Post 1898 firearms are register able and must be registered in compliance with both Arizona and Federal Laws. Arizona Dealers must have on possession on the day of the sale signed copies of their Federal Firearms License. Arizona Sales Tax is payable by all buyers liable to tax. All Dealers must provide a valid resale number upon registration and fill out Arizona Resale Card prior to bidding for Tax Exempt Status.
All bids are per number in the catalog and all items will be sold in numerical order only. The right is reserved to with draw any item or lot prior to sale. Absolutely no lots will be broken.
The highest bidder will prevail. The Auctioneer will regulate the bidding and reserves the right to refuse any bid not believed to be in good faith. Should any disputes arise between bidders, the decision of the Auctioneer in the exercise of judgement as to the successful bidder will be final. Additionally the Auctioneer may re-offer or resell any lot in dispute.
A 16% Buyers Premium will be charged on all sales.

All items purchased by the successful bidder must be paid for on the day of sale. Purchases not paid within 14 days of final sale date will b e charged a 5% Late Charge, all accounts past due will accrue interest at the rate of 1.5% per month on the unpaid balance and compounded monthly. Storage will be provided at no charge for 14 days following the sale date and then at a rate of $5.00 per item per day unless prior arrangements have been made. Shipping is the responsibility of the Buyer and the Buyer must make all Shipping or Delivery arrangements on large items. Smalls will be packed and shipped by us at the buyer’s expense. We do not charge other than exact cost for smalls creating and shipping. Shipping insurance is the responsibility of the Buyer.
