This is an exceptional authentic Haida Native American Indian Northwest Coast carved Winchester Repeating Rifle Model 1894 manufactured in 1908. This firearm is in the rare Saddle Ring Carbine configuration and is chambered in 25-35 W.C.F. (Winchester Center Fire). The carbine shows a walnut stock with deep original early 1900-1930's Haida Indian carvings. The carvings have a wonderful finely crafted Totem design with the eyes of the Totem figures being made of inlaid abalone shell. This is truly the finest most excellently carved example of a Haida Indian Carved Winchester ever offered for sale and is a museum quality firearm. The side of the barrel is marked, "Manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. New Haven, Conn. U.S.A. Patented August 21.1894 - Nickel Steel Barrel Especially For Smokeless Powder - 25-35 W.C.F." The top of the barrel and receiver both show the Winchester oval proof mark. The receiver frame tang is marked, "Model 1894 Winchester Trade Mark Reg. In U.S. PAT. OFF." and under the frame is marked, "462541".The rifle shows a gray patina with speckled freckling, but overall in good well preserved working condition for its age. The wood carved stock is in very well preserved condition showing excellent detail. The carbine has a 20 inch round barrel with full under mount magazine tube. The barrel has the Marble's Gladstone, Mich. U.S.A. adjustable front and rear sights. The carbine has a Serial Number of 462541 and was manufactured in 1908.
