Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring Carbine
This is a very good example of an all original unaltered Winchester Model 1892 Carbine manufactured in 1926. The carbine has a full blue finish with oiled walnut stock and forearm. The carbine has a round barrel, full length magazine, saddle ring base only (missing the ring) on the left side of the receiver and steel carbine buttplate. The barrel is fitted with a standard Winchester carbine front and adjustable folding leaf rear sight. The top of the barrel and receiver are stamped with the Winchester "W/P" proofmark. The left side of the barrel has the two-line marking: : "-MODEL 92 - WINCHESTER - 25-20 W.C.F. - / -TRADE MARK-" below the rear sight. The opposite side of the barrel is roll-stamped with the two-line legend: "MADE IN U.S.A.WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO / -NEW HAVEN. CONN. -". The upper receiver tang is roll-stamped: "WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK / MADE IN U.S.A." in three lines. The serial number, "973585" is located on the underside of the receiver.
BBL: 20 inch round
Stock: walnut
Gauge: 25-20 WCF
Finish: blue
Grips:
Serial Number: 973585

Very good with 50% of the original blue finish remaining with even honest wear and thinning on the barrel and magazine tube from handling with 25% of the finish remaining on the receiver mostly in the protected area. The stock and forend are both in very good condition with 80% of the factory finish remaining. The left side of the buttstock and forend exhibit a worn or rough area that would correspond exactly to the where the carbine was probably in a saddle scabbard and rubbed against a buckle or tie down. The carbine has nice tight fitting wood to metal and the screws are all unbuggered and the screw heads are all filled in with years of oil and dirt.
